This book: Bleed, Blister, And Purge: A History Of Medicine On The American Frontier
was under my Xmas shrubbery this year, thanks to the lovely and generous [livejournal.com profile] dejla. So you can expect lots of gory frontier medicine in any future historical stories [g] Thank you, Dejla!! [HUGS]

[Grins] I was watching this rather wonderful documentary on the BBC about everyday life in 14th Century England, the other day. The story was told through the death and tax records of Christina Cok (http://www.bbc.co.uk/bbcfour/medieval/christina.shtml) (A villein!)and it was a wonderful insight into what they ate, what they grew, how they lived, into how ale was brewed and regulated (important stuff, that!), how the laws affected women and property - in short, a virtual cornucopia of good fic stuff!

I took notes!

That sounds cool!

I'm a sucker for 'real-life' accountings of past times...

I collect books about the West/American Frontier in general, and about women specifically, so this is an awesome addition to my collection!
