My former boss dubbed us 'heterosexual life partners' (apparently it's a reference to Silent Bob and somebody movies - can't remember)and that's a fairly accurate description :)

We've lived together for 12 odd years, share a checking account, vacations, friends, all that stuff. We just happen to like men. But nothing's perfect!

:) I know, they take some getting used to. People look at me funny when I say I like 'em, but I decided to stop worrying about what people think of me a long time ago.

It's good, you don't have to like them too; the world would be a dreadfully boring place if we all had the same taste.

We met via Forever Knight fandom in 1996 via the FK IRC channel, and she moved in late that year. We aren't related, though my mum considers her her daughter and she's a member of our family and always will be.

I love that phrase, it just works so much better than 'best friend'. Heterosexual lifemate makes perfectly clear what you mean to each other. Mine is 250miles away since I had to leave Liverpool and I miss her like hell most days.

Anyhoo, on a slightly lighter note, Clerks is actually not the best way to 'get' Kevin Smith, IMHO. I'm a big fan of his, and I don't enjoy Clerks as much as the others. If you haven't, then might I suggest you try Dogma. If you still don't like him after that, fair enough. ;-)

Absolutely, and yes, I have thought about it. I'd especially like to adopt a girl from China where girls are routinely abandoned, if not killed outright due to the one child policy. It's an issue I've always been passionate about and made me realize very early on how fortunate I am to be a female here.
