ithildin: (Methos - Book=Hot)
.... For those of you troubled by the lingering idea (instilled in youth by parents obsessed with the benefits of "enjoying the sunshine") that a life spent reading is a life half-lived, your worries are over. Not only does sitting with your nose in a book positively influence others' opinion of you, it could actually - get this - lead to sex. A third of those surveyed said that they "would consider flirting with someone based on their choice of literature". It's finally official, people. Reading is hot.

Well, duh! Just think about that photo from the Source that's floating around with Methos holding the book. Yes, there's another one of him all kitted out in leather, but it's the book pic that's sexy. Not to mention I spent my entire childhood with my nose in a book, and I refuse to blame reading for being a dork. Heh.

The rest of the article is here, and I stole the link from [livejournal.com profile] jinxed_wood -- it was such a pretty ship, err.. link :)

A Bit Later: Just had to make a new icon to go with the post.

Not to make a pass at you or anything 8-), but remind me to rec to you more books about women pioneers. I just got some new (to me) bookshelves, and have been taking books out of boxes and moving others around. Plus, next week I'll be on vacation, and helping Mr. Bookshop take books out of boxes and move books around at the *bookstore*, since he's building more bookcases. Between the two, I should turn up something!

I know I have a lot of anthologies... you already know Covered Wagon Women (great series) but there have been a LOT of them over the years.

[bats eyelashes] Why aren't you the sweetest thing! [g]

Yes, I'll try to remember to remind you :) I just bought another volume of Covered Wagon Women last night, but you're right, there's a whole mess of them!

Well now there is a good thing says the confirmed bookworm :)

Yeah, I drove my mum crazy. I'd have a huge stack of books, and before she knew it I was telliing her I didn't have anything to read.

It IS a sexy picture. Book dorks are hot.

*thinks of other main fandom crush, Wesley Wyndam-Pryce, resident book-man of Angel, and officially Too Hot to Live*

Mmmm. Books.

Hee, yeah, it really was the angst more than the books. And the pretty. That helped.

But the books didn't hurt?

Until the stubble and the angst, the books alone weren't quite anough to push him into the hot zone for me [g]

Yep, I agree, reading and books are hot. The bookish qualities of the character is one of the reasons why Methos is such a favourite with me. ^_^ I think I'll have to use my bookverse story icon for this comment, though maybe I should try my hand at making a Methos/books icon...
