If I want to post a comment but haven't signed into LJ yet, at the bottom of the comment field are a pair of words I'm supposed to copy to verify that I'm a person & not a web bot or something. It's the same kind of thing that some Internet contests, surveys, purchases, etc. require to avoid spam or automated entries. The words are usually curved or on a patterned background or some such so that it's difficult (or impossible) for an automated thing to read, but humans don't have any problem. Those two words were just unusually complicated!
Sorry, I knew what captchas are, I was just confused since I don't have them set up on my LJ for anything but anon comments [g] And since you made the comment and were signed in, I ran back to make sure my settings hadn't changed. Now I realize you weren't singed in at the time :)
