Dreamwidth Roll Call
Mar. 14th, 2013 07:07 pmIs there anyone I know from LJ who is no longer posting to LJ and only posting to Dreamwidth? Some of you, I know about, but others, I'm sure I've missed. Can you please let me know so I can add to reading lists accordingly? Same of you'd prefer to interact with me on DW as opposed to LJ.

Fic Communities on Dreamwidth?

I'm really making an effort to try and use Dreamwidth more, but no idea how successful I'll be. I really need to get motivated to somehow adapt my theme to a style actually supported by DW, so that it works properly. Right now, I'm using the scotch taped and rubber banded Expressive Squares LJ version, and it's wonky. It's just been so long since I've done anything CSS related, it'll be like starting from scratch, learning it all over again. Hence, lots of motivation needed. But until then, I'll keep trying to at least post from DW more when I'm home.
Things That Need Fixing

-Name of person missing under icon on reading list.
-Link bar at top of page screwed up. Links to archive, profile, reading list fine. Can't find where to remove link for tags, network, memories. Also can't find where 'A More Permanent Hell' link to LJ is coming from to remove or change.
-Need to figure out how to make LJ addon work for DW instead.
-Need to find out if you can embed youtube video. Notice that posts that I backed up here from LJ have no embed video in them.
More as I stumble across them.

Some Things Still Need Fixing
Feb. 4th, 2012 02:59 pmI still need to fix my reading page. The entries have no identification on them, so I don't know whose posts they are unless I happen to recognize the icon! On my theme on LJ, it shows the name under the icon, but here, they're blank. I'll have to go hunting for a fix one of these days, whenever I get my act together.

Jan. 8th, 2012 03:15 pmI found a tutorial here for importing Flexible Squares and it worked! I'm sure there will be things I need to tinker with, but for now. it works well enough.

I just tried to clean up ye olde reading circle - there were all sorts of duplicate open ID/Actual DW accounts. If I got rid of you, I didn't mean to, there were lots of boxes to tick and untick :) So if you were erroneously removed, please let me know.
I haven't been able to backup to Dreamwidth since August, so I finally opened a support request. Apparently, there's some sort of code difference now between the two, and unless LJ makes a change, I'll no longer be able to use Dreamwidth. So DW will now become like IJ was - something I only use when LJ is down. Real bummer that.
