Mischief and I had a very serious conversation last night. So serious, so important, I think we need your input. Ready?

Who will Dan Clifford bed first?

There you go! Like I said, most serious [g] I'd create a poll, but I'm too lazy. So in the comments you go!

I'm saying Jac right now, subject to change my mind without notice.

Abra? ; )

Couldn't resist *g*.

I'm new to the series, so I have no idea if that is or is not likely :) Abra could be gay for all I know, and for that matter, so could Dan.

At present, I've gotta agree with ya...they're already behaving (rather like my ex and I) like pre-teens on a school yard, pulling eachother's hair & kicking eachother in shins rather than just kissing & getting it over with...and I very much liked his confronting her, challenging her to come for him...yeah, I give 3 eps before they're going at it in a supply closet ;-)

Though presently, I'd prefer to see him with Kyla...she's strikingly lovely (Jac's cheek-bones scare me and I want to force-feed her a sandwich), far saner & less catty than Jac, and I think smart enough & savy enough to be good for him...but of course, where would the drama be in that?

Date: 2006-12-08 10:56 pm (UTC)From: [identity profile] sophiedb.livejournal.com
Abra's daft attempts at revenge? I never know whether he's after Kyla for her ability to help him with creative paperwork/excuses, or whether he genuinely fancies her :)

Well from the little bit of seen (yes, I'm one of those fangirl Yanks who's only started finding a way to see it now that Peter Wingfield's joined the cast), I doubt he knows whether he's using her or he's sweet on her. I get the idea that like many men I know, he fancies that she cleans up his messes, but isn't really sure what to do with the women in his life beyond that.

The lovely black "sister" (Hmmm, can I Brit explain to me what that means? I'm medicaly trained on this side of the pond, but I'm still learned the british terminologies like "registrar" and such) seen in this picture (http://www.bbc.co.uk/drama/holbycity/characters/profiles/content/images/kyla.jpg)...

Oh, Sister Tyson! Didn't know what her first name was.

Nin has a UK nurses ref. I've found it helpful: http://www.christie.nhs.uk/patientinfo/uniform/nurses/nurses.htm

And this is a UK surgical staff guide: http://www.rcseng.ac.uk/patient_information/publications/who.pdf

I'm not exactly certain, but sisters are quite high up the nursing ladder. She's not in charge, but getting there - Chrissie is matron (another historical title floating about the NHS..).

Maybe this'd help - UK nursing titles (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Nurse#Nursing_titles). There's a few varieties at each level, probably because the traditional names are very female friendly. I'd love to see a bloke answering to "sister" XD

Here's a good one for registrars etc too: NHS career grades (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Specialist_registrar). Chances are that Holby will stick the older titles for a while because that's what everyone is used to.

On a random note, Kyla's got an estranged hubby - Harvey the sexy copper (at least I reckon he can be sexy when he wants to!). He's the one about to charge Mark for drink driving. They're still wrangling over their son too, which could put certain suitors off.

I don't know if I've seen all the characters yet, so I'm just basing it on my very limited knowledge of the show. And at this point, Jac seemed most likley.

I'm watching this between my fingers and fast-forwarding through everything without PW in it -- and I still don't find his charater appealing at all. Even so, the idea of DC with any of the women I've seen so far just makes me shudder. Yuck.

Wish there was at least one attractive or interesting man. This may be crossovers only territory -- with Scrubs, perhaps.

Green Wing (http://www.channel4.com/entertainment/tv/microsites/G/greenwing/index.html)!

Hah! Looks likely.
I was thinking of Dr. Cox on Scrubs, who can pull off the cliched sexist jerk/really caring/dysfunctional relationshipper with greater acidity and charm. He's also, by taste & profession, antagonistic to the supermale surgeon jocks.

This show kind of reminds me of the 1940s-50s nurse-doctor Romance novels.

I'd hope for Connie if she didn't have a bun in the oven, but that looks unlikely. I can't see him going with anyone else there, even Jac. Maybe Chrissie, once she's gotten over Sam and his two-timing ways. Hmm.. maybe not.

You never know, there might be one of the infamous Casualty (http://www.bbc.co.uk/drama/casualty/characters/)/Holby crossovers this Xmas - the other being set in the same hospital's A&E (ER) dept. Even more opportunities for nookie!

ext_9031: (Grey's -- Pick Me)
I was hoping for Connie too, but that doesn't seem likley at this point. But considering it's a soap opera with musical beds, anything is possible.

That reminds me! How come the gunshot victims didn't go to A&E department? I was wondering that when I was watching.

Date: 2006-12-09 09:03 am (UTC)From: [identity profile] sophiedb.livejournal.com
A&E depts (also known as "casualty", funnily enough) don't have surgical facilities - if that's needed it'll be radioed ahead from the ambulance and the patient is taken straight to the right ward.

There was another nurse that Dan was talking to about the little girls - don't know her name - and they seemed to get on very well. Not the Tyson girl, but also black. Very striking. Something seemed to click there. Maybe she'd give Dan a go. I certainly would but not on a longterm basis. Dan doesn't do longterm.

Date: 2006-12-08 11:54 pm (UTC)From: [identity profile] mischief5.livejournal.com
Whoops, yes it was Sister Tyson! I liked the way they got on together.

Donna? She's a cutie - doesn't do long-term either :) (http://www.bbc.co.uk/drama/holbycity/characters/profiles/index.shtml?content/_donna/page1)

Maybe it is Donna. Shucky darns! Now I'll have to go back and watch it again...such a chore! NOT! :)

I don't think he's going to bed any of the regular cast. I think there is someone already taking up that place in his heart - hence the 3 broken engagements. Maybe he's bi and has a boyfriend he can't work out of his system. Or a wife or another woman he still pines over. He was very gentle with his ex - and he plainly hinted that there was a true underlying reason why he couldn't go through with it and if he had, she would be miserable and worse off for the pain.

I think he and Jac make great nemesis for one another - that would be ruined with a roll in the hay.

If it weren't a soap opera, I'd say it was a possibility, but reading the BBC site, it seems like the entire staff is sleeping with one person after another [g] Only time will tell!

Yeah, I got that impression too. :-)
