ithildin: (Methos - Jane)
I've always joked that my personality in part is due to reading Jane Eyre for the first time when I was seven. Just finished watching the newest rendition on Masterpiece Theater, and am thinking maybe that's not quite as much a joke as I thought it was :)

Maybe if I'd read Austen instead of Bronte, I'd have a cheerier outlook on life!

Definitely recommend the new miniseries. Very good, though stuffed into four hours, it's a little sparse in some parts.

Good golly, and I thought I was precocious reading Gone With The Wind at eleven.

I remember not being so into the book once the romance stuff started [g] But the beginning of the novel, when Jane's a little girl, really made a lasting impression on me. I then read it ever few years, and as I got older, came to appreciate adult Jane :) I haven't read it in something like ten years. Should rectify that! See how I feel about it now after having my own broken heart and lost love.
