Who'd have thought it?
Nov. 22nd, 2013 10:59 pmWay back when, watching Doctor Who meant being years behind, maybe catching episodes at SF cons. But tomorrow, for the 50th anniversary, there's a global simulcast. For the first time ever, I get to watch live, as it were. It's awesome, but very weird.
I was discussing the whole 'Coulson isn't dead anymore' thing elsewhere, but most of what I wanted to say drifted firmly into Thor II, so look! A real fannish post!

1: "How's our patient?" Charlotte asked Ezra as she entered Tony's Shanghai hospital room—though room didn't quite cover it.
2: The sound of cards being shuffled pulled Tony from a drugged slumber.
3: "I knew I should have gotten the collision insurance when I picked up the rental."
4: "I can never adequately repay you for all you've done," the tiny old one said to Bruce.
5: "I'm very, very mad at you!" Bruce pointed a finger at Charlotte accusingly.

Last minute trip
Oct. 21st, 2013 10:32 pmSo that good feeling I was having about events was quickly shattered, and I was so stressed out we decided to take a very last minute trip the Grand Canyon. We left Friday, came back last night - in a record time of 4 hours! I suggested to Nin we take a below the rim hike, as opposed to our usual meandering along the paved rim paths; after tackling Balcony House at Mesa Verde, I've been feeling quite adventurous. So we did 3 miles round trip -- 1.5 straight down, then back up again. We took our time, stopped at the first rest house for lunch, then started back. Took us three hours, not counting the lunch break. Did I mention I fell at the first tunnel, 1/2 hour in? You should see the bruise on my hip and my right arm. I think I twisted something in my arm. Fortunately, it was my right arm, and you don't need your arm to walk. Nin and I have a goal to make it as far as Indian Garden in the next two years, which is 4.8 miles below the rim, and who knows? Maybe we'll get to Phantom Ranch before my bones are too old to move!
Highlander Shortcuts Elaboration Post

Methos is my favourite, and am perfectly happy with him being the only Highlander character present. I'm also equally happy with any assortment of Highlander characters along with him.
I very much enjoy Gen, especially friendship fic, Het is great too, but M/M just doesn't do a thing for me, I'm afraid. Pairings, I don't have an OTP--I'm not all that shippy--but don't mind Methos/Amanda, or Methos/Rebecca, and Methos/OFC would be lovely, or some crossover pairing. I'd prefer no Cassandra or Alexa.
I love crossovers, and alternate universes, but a straight Highlander fic would be just as great. Highlander fic set in another universe works too, for example, a purely Highlander story set in the Star Trek future, but no Star Trek characters, that sort of thing. I enjoy stories where our Immies have to adapt to changing times - and that can be the future or the past. I also really enjoy a good historical piece, not limited to Tudor England, Norse/Vikings, Ancient Egypt, Celtic Britain, Arthurian, World War I and II and the years between, Colonial North America, Old West.
And speaking of crossovers, you're welcome to choose from any of my fandoms that speak to you - I'm easy :)

It's that time of year again, where I I need to decide if I want to participate in the Highlander holiday fic exchange. Looking at the guessing post from last year, I was picked once for one story, not mine, and the one I did write, no one came close to pegging me :D Not sure what that says about what people think I'm capable of writing. Anywho I need to decide, and I'm tempted, but always plagued by the fear I won't be able to come up with something and will have to default :( I'll have to ponder some more.

Sep. 18th, 2013 09:56 pmWe're doing a rewatch of Big Bang Theory from S1 on, get us in the spirit for the new season coming up. Just finished rewatching S1 of Rome and finally watching the 2nd season Wish they'd been able to do the 5 seasons they'd originally planned.
