A More Permanent Hell

The small cozy fic won out, at least for now. This is going to be along the same format as my Pirates of the Caribbean serial, The Strangest Places, a series of short interconnected stories. I'd really enjoyed writing those in that manner, so revisiting the concept.

These are set a few days after the end of The Avengers.

I've been wanting to write this for a while now, and decided if I'm going to do it, it needs to be before Avengers is released, because then, I'm sure, it'll be totally ruined [g] One of the things I'm hoping for in the movie, is them dealing in some way with Steve's friend Howard Stark, and the very different man that was Tony's father. This is my take on that.

"Howard Stark was a good man," Steve said, trying to connect with that man's son, nearly seventy years later.

Tony laughed harshly. "Yeah? He might have been a good man, but he was a hell of a bad father!"

( Steve tried to interrupt, but seeing the obvious pain in Tony's eyes, the words died on his lips. He didn't know why it was so important to get Tony to accept that Howard Stark was a man worthy of a son's pride. But he'd felt like he owed it to Howard, owed it to Tony.  )

I've decided to watch the Avengers premiere red carpet live feed. I think the last time I was this excited for a movie was when FOTR came out.

Oh, almost forgot! If you're a Tony or a Loki fan - and I say, why not be both? - there's a new clip up giving context for the 'head count' advert. I think I about imploded!

Notes: The Avengers do Halloween pretty much sums this one up. And I blame Tom Hiddleston for what happens at the end of the story, after listening to him speak at New York ComicCon. I couldn't work everyone in for a speaking part, but I did my best. As for when it's set, I'm actually not sure if it's post or pre Avengers, so let's just say it's not too far in the future. It's finally finished! Thanks to everyone who has stuck with me till the end, and special thanks to those that have taken the time to comment. It's my cheese! I started this before IM II had even come out, and that, along with the subsequent movies, Thor, and Captain America, have shaped the story. This story is set between the two Iron Man movies, and the sequel will take place during IM II. Maybe I'll get it written before The Avengers comes out - or not. Hope you enjoy this last part, and thanks again!

Errr, it grew by part. This got really long, and there's still stuff that needs to happen! But almost :) I'm really fond of this part, so I hope you enjoy it.
